Longstanding Diss Otters member Adam Lelean has been awarded the East of England ASA Silver Pin for his services to swimming.
Adam has been a member of the Diss club since 1988 when it was known as Waveney Otters.
He has held many positions with the Diss club including Chairman for two years and is also heavily involved with the sports administration at Norfolk County Level, including the organisation together with his wife Sally of the Norfolk Masters Gala.
As well as being a qualified referee - officiating at many local galas in Norfolk, Adam still competes at Master events across the country and occasionally overseas. He has a great passion for distance open water swimming and has got many of the junior members of the club to take part in local open water events.
Adam still coaches voluntarily at Diss with the younger swimmers benefitting from his huge experience and also the masters section who swim three times a week.
Adam underwent open heart surgery earlier this year and it is testament to his fitness and determination that he was back at the pool weeks ahead of schedule and is now back in the water doing what he loves best.
